Christmas Outreach | Share the Love

Spread the love

Christ is the main reason why we are celebrating Christmas. He showed His love by serving others especially the sick, the needy and the less fortunate people. Every year, we make sure to make our Christmas the best Christmas to celebrate. Either through celebrating it with our families and friends or going out of town or out of the country. But there are those who would like to spend their Christmas doing good deeds to others through outreach programs.

How would you like to celebrate your Christmas this year? If it would not be too much for you to share your time and show some love to those in need, I have listed down some of the charitable institutions I have visited before (with my former colleagues and boss) which you might want to visit as well.

CHILDREN’S JOY FOUNDATION

Address: No. 6 Bayan Luma 1, Imus City
Cavite, Philippines

Contact Person: Vicky Cardeño, Center Head
(+63) 46 471 8543 / (+63) 915 752 6473

If you love children, which I’m pretty sure you do, this would be a great place to visit. They will really prepare a song or dance performance. They usually have kids ranging from ages 6 to 18 years old.  The photo below was taken 3 years ago with my boss and colleagues during our visit. You may give them assorted items like toys, toiletries, groceries, multivitamins and chairs.

BAHAY PAG-IBIG AT PAG-ASA (Home for the Aged)

Address: Bgy. Toclong 1-C Imus, Cavite

Contact Person: Ms. Marissa
(+63) 46 434 5476

This institution takes care of 11 elderly people. If you don’t have a Lolo or Lola living with you, you might want to visit them. My heart always melts whenever I see elderly people and what usually breaks my heart is when I see them being left by their loved ones at times when they most needed attention and affection. I cannot imagine my Lolo or Lola being left alone during the last phase of their lives. After all the sacrifices they have made just to make sure all their children and grandchildren live a good life. Well, it is not for us to judge.

You may give them groceries, lots of adult diaper, sacks of rice and mutivitamins. Here are some of the photos I have with them:

This institution takes care of children with special needs. My visit there was one of my most memorable outreach experience. Every face of those children were really heart melting that I nearly cried. It was not because of sadness but of happiness. The kids were very inspiring. You may give them toys sacks of rice, groceries and toiletries. We were not allowed to take photos of the children so here are some of our photos when we visited them.

Aside from these three institutions, I was about to feature two outreach programs early this month, unfortunately, I got sick and wasn’t able to write this article. Anyways, you may still want to check them out since they do their outreach program annually. They are group of people that share the same sentiments in helping other people.

Were you inspired to do the same thing this Christmas? If you don’t have a big budget for holding your own outreach program, you can just collect some of your old items (clothes, toys, footwear) which you think are still okay to use and donate those things to the nearest area with indigent people. You may also try searching through internet to check any nearest charitable institutions.

Let us all share the gift of Love. Merry Christmas everyone.
